Whatever you interpret this to mean. translesbiangenderschmendermash! Come as woman or come as a man just as long as you drag it up! (dressing up is optional if you don’t feel comfortable).
What is drag? I guess in the wonderful world of drag the most publicised performances stick to the gender binary. That is drag kings and drag queens. It can be a way of consciously subverting gender by dressing up as an identity different to your own. Drag can be radical and push the boundaries, but unfortunately it can also be a way of re-enforcing the roles of masculinity and femininity which society enforces. For example, if I were to dress as a manly man, pelvic thrust and be a dominating misogynistic asshole without this being a comment on the crapness of it, really what is the point of me dressing up at all? At the same time if a drag queen re-enacts femininity by being submissive, flirty, and there only to please men (and have a strangely high pitched voice) then same deal. Drag is cool when it is radical and drag is not an excuse to behave badly cos humor can be just as destructive as other forms of discrimination. For me drag could be dressing up with lipstick and a tie or as an androgynous man. Anything is possible!
