The Victorian Law Reform Commission is expected to release its recommendations for changes to Victoria’s abortion laws on March 28. Given the resistance of governments — including the current one led by Premier Brumby — to decriminalise abortion, it is hard to predict what the commission will recommend. Whatever its stance, the majority of Victorians, who say that every woman must have the right to choose an abortion, must make ourselves heard.
The next clinic defence is the day after the recommendations are due. The anti-abortion bigots will surely be there in bigger numbers. We need our numbers, too.
Bring yourselves, your friends and networks. It’s time that the pro-choice side is seen and heard!
