This a trial program using reusable crockery to help reduce the amount of non-biodegradable waste that goes into landfill. This is part of the Student Union’s ongoing goal to create a more sustainable campus as well as extending the waste reduction from our services.

How the System Works

Washing Against Waste is easy. There are two stations that you will visit while you help to reduce non-biodegradable landfill.

Clean Station:
This is the first station that you will visit. Pick up your clean plates and take it to the food outlet of your choice. You will be served food onto this plate.

Dirty Station:
Once you have finished eating, return with your dirty plates to this station. Scrape food scraps into the bin and add your plate to the growing stack dirty dishes that each represents a reduction to land fill.

Behind the scenes:
A cleaner will take the trolley of dirty plates to the dishwasher and return clean plates to the Clean Station.

Trial System

This is a trail system during Second Semester 2009. If you think it is a good idea show your support — sign your name to the petition at the station or fill out the following form to show your support:
