Union Theatre closed to remove asbestos from the ceiling spaces
The University is managing the process to remove asbestos located in the ceiling spaces above the theatre auditorium.
Air monitoring has shown that the air in the theatre auditorium is well within the Victorian OH&S regulations for safety.
A website has been established to keep staff and students informed about the situation and the removal process.
Please read the information provided at www.safety.unimelb.edu.au/uniontheatre
Your student or staff University email username and password is required to access the website.
It is expected that the theatre will be reopened after we have received a full clearance certificate expected at end of October.
We acknowledge the inconvenience this will cause but it’s in everyone’s interest to remove the asbestos in a safe and regulated manner.
We will continue to keep students and staff advised of the progress through the website at www.safety.unimelb.edu.au/uniontheatre
