Union House Theatre is staffed by industry professionals who can advise and assist you in all aspects related to performance production.

Josie Byrt – Cultural Services Manager & Theatre Administrator
Advice on sponsorship, budgeting, publicity, and venue hire, both on and off campus, information on avenues of funding, from Arts committees to local traders to the University’s Theatre Board. Josie is a good reference point for most aspects of theatre but if she doesn’t have the answer, she can point you in the direction of the person who can best answer your query.

Tom Gutteridge – Artistic Director
The Artistic Director’s role is to provide guidance on content, form and rationale of a proposed performance project for students and student theatre projects, no matter how great or small. He is happy to discuss ideas, look at scripts and give tips on how to direct your own play. The Artistic Director runs theatre workshops and directs two annual theatre productions on campus.

Erin Adams – Administration and Development Officer
Find out about what’s on, how to become an Affiliated Theatre Group, how to promote your show, sign up for workshops and book the Des Connor Rehearsal Room. Editor of Union House Theatre’s blog and website, Erin coordinates Union House Theatre publicity and promotion.

Gus Macdonald – Production Manager
Able to advise on all aspects of technical production, providing professional guidance and alternate solutions, Gus can explain the roles and responsibilities of key production staff and show you how to create an effective and realistic production schedule that will bring together all the technical elements required to make your show a success.

Clynton Jones – Head Technician
Clynton is here to provide help and advice on all technical aspects of theatre. Whether you need to make a snowstorm on stage or recreate the “brown” note or you just want to know what a Gobo is, Clynton is the one stop shop. You can also see him if you need to hire lighting, sound or staging equipment.

Simon Smith – Stage Carpenter/Mechanist
Available to discuss your set designs and the best way to build them, Simon can advise you on the most appropriate and affordable materials to use, where to source materials as well as addressing safety concerns. Whether you’re envisaging a flying, moving extravaganza for a musical masterpiece or just want to make a door not fall down, he can help.
