In Australia, right now, one in every three women has at least one STI. Will one autonomous (women-only) space in Parkville fix all this? We don’t think so. But it is one step—and for many women, the first step—in addressing these issues for themselves.
As a young female student who identifies as a feminist, enjoys the company of all people and prefers the comfort and support of a bra, I am saying to you that on this day, like every other since I first learned of its existence in my first year orientation three years ago, I would like to see the Wom*n’s Room replaced with a more useful student union service.
