Where is the Romance Collection?

The library’s Romance Collection is located up the stairs at the back wall of the library. Keep going past the Crime and Sci Fi/Fantasy collections and you’ll find the Romance collection on your right. They all have pretty heart-shaped stickers on their spines.

How much stuff have you got?

There’s over 1500 Romance novels in total, and we’re buying more all the time. Suggestions for new items are welcome! Just email the library or write it in our suggestions book at the desk. We’ll do our best to buy whatever you want.

What sorts of Romance do you have?

Many!

  • Paranormal/vampire/futuristic/time travel romance – dark and brooding heroes abound! A little bit of tormented passion never goes astray. Eg. Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, J.R. Ward, Christine Feehan.
  • Regency/Victorian/Georgian romance – slip into another era with these Lords & Ladies, Dukes & Duchesses, and Earls &…whatever the female counterpart of an earl is. Eg. Celeste Bradley, Jo Beverley, Mary Balogh, Suzanne Enoch, Eloisa James, Julia Quinn.
  • Humour/Contemporary romance – whether you like ‘em smart & sassy or sweet & seductive, these are romances starring modern women and a good laugh. Eg. Cecelia Ahern (whose “PS I Love You” was recently made into a feature film), Sophie Kinsella, Susan Mallery, Lori Foster, Lisa Kleypas.
  • Erotica – say no more. These are the romances that err happily on the sexy side of things. Be warned! These are not for the faint-hearted! Eg. Sunny, Lucy Monroe, Rachel Bo, Sarah McCarty, Lisa Marie Rice.
  • Romantic suspense – for those who like their crime novels with a healthy dollop of passion on the side. UST (unresolved sexual tension) partnerships, dangerous liaisons and deadly seductions. Eg. Linda Howard, J.D. Robb, Cherry Adair, Brenda Novak, Gennita Lowe.
  • Historical romance – Scottish rogues, wild west loners, courtesan’s daughters, naughty knights and perky princesses. Pick your favourite era and lose yourself. Eg. Jennifer Ashley, Kresley Cole, Paula Quinn, Lynsay Sands, Susan Wiggs, Karen Hawkins.
  • Mills & Boon – of course. What Romance collection would be complete without them? Find these slim volumes tucked away amongst their heftier counterparts if you need a quick spot of romance in between [yawn] essays.
