Uni can get pretty overwhelming, but making the right friends gives you the support you need to find your place. The Student Union provides events, activities and groups to help you find people like yourself.

Social activities

We run major events and activities through the year so you can meet people while relaxing and having fun. Weekly BBQs and entertainment provide a great setting to regularly catch up with friends.

Clubs and Societies

Joining clubs is probably the best way to get to know people you have a heap in common with. The Student Union supports over 100 clubs including cultural and spiritual clubs, faculty clubs, book, music and film clubs, theatre clubs and dozens of special (and sometimes very special!) interest clubs.

Student Union members get 50% off the joining fee for all clubs. Also, your club will benefit from your Student Union membership with more grants and better resources.

Student Representatives

First floor, Union House

Student representatives are here to make sure your voice gets heard on campus and in the wider community. Chat to your representatives about the issues that concern you, your experiences and your ideas and see what initiatives they’re creating for you.

Only Student Union members can run for student representative positions.

Collectives

If you want to make a difference, join a collective and get together with other like-minded students to work towards the change you want to see. We have collectives to promote the environment, student welfare, education reform, and the arts as well as collectives to fight racism, sexism and queerphobia on campus.

Union House

Union House is the largest dedicated student space on campus A lot of people don’t know that Student Union services can be found on every one of the five floors of Union House – plenty of people never venture past the ground floor food hall, and miss out on seeing what the Student Union is really about.

The Student Union in the wider community

We run several programs to enrich the wider community and offer students volunteering opportunities including a vacation care program for primary school aged children and The VCE Summer School to give students from disadvantaged schools a head start.
