Debts
If you find yourself in debt don’t worry. The situation manageable provided you take action as soon as you become aware of the debt.
Often we find that our student clients may not even be in debt. Solicitors, insurance agencies and debt collectors will often make demands for the payment of money where there is no legal obligation to do so. Until you admit the debt, or a court orders you to pay the debt, a legal obligation does not exist (this is most often the case with damage to cars from an accident). Often the court will set a different amount to be paid.
You should talk to the legal service as soon as you become aware of a debt. We can help you deal with debt collectors and the pressure that they may try and put you under. Often debt collectors or their agents will try and intimidate or scare you into paying the money. The Legal Service can help you deal with them.
We can also help you with a defence or negotiate a payment scheme that may only involve paying back the money once you have completed your degree. There are plenty of options that we’d gladly take you through.
