Issue #J09-A10027, J09-A10028, J09-A10029 and J09-A10030 Tuesday Band and BBQ
Description: The issue of the Tuesday Band and BBQ cancellation was received on Thursday 14 May. Students expressed their disappointment with the cancellation of the Band and BBQ, the importance of it to them and called for it to be returned.
Response: The Secretary will table the correspondence at the next meeting of Students’ Council, 2 pm, 19 May in MUVT1/2. Students’ Council is responsible for the allocation of funds to Entertainment, which provides Tuesday Bands and BBQs in collaboration with the Activities Department.
UPDATE (19-05-2009): Students’ Council did not discuss the issue raised as quorum was lost before the matter was reached.
UPDATE (04-06-2009): Students’ Council did not discuss the issue raised as quorum was lost before the matter was reached. However the report from the General Manager did provide points of information for the consideration of Students’ Council.
This included:
- In 2009, the allocation to Entertainment was reduced relative to 2008.
- As part of this, it was agreed that there would be no performances for the final three weeks of each semester (no performance was cancelled).
- The cost of reinstating performances for the final three weeks of semester two, 2009 is $13,500.
