August 1st marks the fifth year anniversary of the ban on same-sex marriage, which is being maintained by the Rudd Labor government. The Labor government is more out of touch than ever, with 60% of Australians, including 74% of young people (18-24 y.o.), now supporting same-sex marriage rights.

The National Union of Students (NUS) stands firmly on the side of the lesbian and gay community and their demands for equality. NUS has played a key role in building this and other demonstrations for same-sex marriage rights. Come to the rally on August 1st at Federation Square to demand equal rights for lesbian and gay couples and send Rudd a message that his homophobic ban must go!
