“Above Water” has been launched! It was a wonderful success with over 70 people attending the launch to hear readings by the writers, and the award of the prizes. And as if that wasn’t enough, after the launch we had a rockin’ afterparty at the MUDFEST club, with nibbles and drinks and debauchery!
The winner of “Above Water” this year was Madeleine Griffeth with her short story “Mont Salvat”. The Highly Commended prize was awarded to Marisabel Bonet Cruz for her poem “El Verbo Hablar”. The Editor’s Choice award was awarded to Seamus Barker for his poem “Fitzroy Crossing”.
Congratulations to all the winners, all the shortlisted entries that were published, and last but certainly not least to everyone who entered. As Zoe, one of the Media Officers said at the launch:
“it’s not about the difference between good and bad writers, it’s about the difference between those who write and those who don’t”
If you want to pick up a copy of “Above Water” they can be found lurking in the Student Union info stands around the University, in the Rowden White Library or at the Student Union Info desk opposite INU Bar on the 1st Floor of Union House!
