Advocacy (ād’və-kə-sē) 1. giving aid to a cause or position; 2. support for people who are thought likely to be disregarded or to have difficulty in gaining attention, so that their opinion is listened to

The Advocacy Service provides a free and confidential advocacy and support service to all students of the University of Melbourne.

We are here to help

No problem is ever too big or too small… We understand the University’s internal processes well. We know how to assist you to get the information you need, and the best way to resolve academic and personal issues.

Making an appointment

The service is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. The office closes for some public holidays, and over the Student Union closure period in late December and early January. To make an appointment to see an advisor, please contact the receptionist between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, either in person or by phoning 8344 6546.

Please bring relevant documents when attending your consultation. Examples of documents that could be relevant are letters that your faculty have sent you, copies of emails, support documents from a doctor or counsellor, etc.

If you are unable to come to the office you can email your enquiry or call the receptionist to set up a time to talk to an advisor on the phone.
