The holidays are well and truly over now and Parkville Campus is coming to life again. At the Advocacy Service, we work closely with University of Melbourne Student Union student representatives on student education and welfare issues, and have already begun to plan this year’s activities. Soon we will be busy introducing new students to our service at Week 0 (aka orientation; 26-29 February). This month Student Advisors are also working closely with individual students who need intensive support as they work through the University’s Progress Committee procedures. A big issue we will be monitoring in 2008 is the introduction of the University’s ‘new generation’ undergraduate degrees, and the ‘teach out’ of ‘heritage’ degrees.
