Is university getting you down? Are you are having trouble sleeping? Finding it difficult to cope in stressful situations? Worried you or a friend may have an eating disorder?

One in five Australians will suffer from a mental illness at some time in their lives. While many of us frequently have periods of feeling overwhelmed, a mental illness does not just go away if it is ignored. However, most illnesses can be effectively managed or treated.

If you want to talk to somebody about your feelings or concerns you can make an appointment to see a counsellor at Counselling and Psychological Services, or a doctor at the Health Service.

Emergency mental health support

Detailed information and resources for emergency mental health situations and larger scale mental health responses to community disasters can also be found via Counselling and Psychological Services.

Support with your studies

If you have a mental health condition you may be able to register to use the support provided by staff at the University of Melbourne’s Disability Liaison. This service may also be able to link you with a Student Equity Officer in your faculty or school who can help you to liaise with your lecturers and tutors regarding any issues you may be having with your studies.
